The Maryland Pony Breeders Yearling Futurity is a showcase of the future of pony breeding in Maryland. The goal of a Futurity is to encourage the breeding of better quality ponies. The Futurity gets its name from the fact that breeders are betting on the future since the yearlings showing today may have been entered before they were even born. A Futurity offers exhibitors a prestigious, affordable and potentially profitable avenue to exhibit the results of their breeding program.
Who Benefits from a Futurity?
Futurities benefit everyone involved in the production of a quality pony. Stallion owners get to show the public what their boys can put on the ground and thereby attract mares. Mare owners can create a larger market for their mare's produce and thereby increase the value of each foal. The futurity was established to encourage breeders to be selective in their breeding operation, thereby producing a high quality Maryland-bred pony.

Fun, prestige and money! Show everyone what you are producing on your farm, whether you are a stallion owner, a mare owner, or the lucky purchaser of a nominated foal.
How to Enter:
First, go to our Futurity Rules page to familiarize yourself with the basics. Then click on the link below to download the form. You can choose to only make the first payment or you can pay in full. Send in the form and check by the deadline. If you choose the multiple payment option, you will get your form back in the mail about 2 weeks before each deadline. If you wish to continue your nomination, send the form with your check back by the deadline.
